Bach's unaccompanied cello suites are unparalleled in the cello repertoire and are not afraid of the passage of time. Award-winning German-French cellist Alstad is visiting Hong Kong and will perform Bach’s Fifth Cello Suite in a delicate manner at a solo recital, showcasing the unique lines and strokes of the Baroque period. At the same time, he will also play "Three Sections in the Name of Sacher", which was written by French composer Dutilleux in 1976 to pay tribute to the birthday of the famous Swiss conductor Sacher. The work was premiered by Rostropovich, who is recognized as the greatest cellist of the 20th century. The program will end with the cello sonata by Hungarian composer Kavalier. The composer incorporated some folk tunes and playing techniques into each movement, creating a series of confusing timbres and melodic textures, which established a place in the cello repertoire. Its extraordinary energy and influence are significant and far-reaching.
